Earth Day Cleanup
The Westfield Conservation Commission will host the City-Wide Earth Day Clean-Up on Saturday April 26, 2025, from 8:00am to 1:00pm.
The clean-up will kick off at 8:00 AM with a light breakfast at Mount Moriah Lodge located at 72 Broad Street. After a quick safety review and distribution of safety and collection supplies, volunteers will collect litter and debris at assigned locations throughout the city. At noon, all are welcome back to Mount Moriah for lunch and to return the clean-up supplies. Just a few hours of clean-up make a big difference; last year alone, volunteers collected 3.5 tons of trash, 25 tires, 3 mattresses, and two boats!
As part of the clean-up, Hartsprings Foundation will host a “Fill a Truck Event.” All Westfield residents are welcome to drop off gently used clothing, textiles, and goods from 9am-1pm at Mount Moriah Lodge. In 2024, the community donated 1,206 lbs of clothes and 462 lbs of home goods. Visit https://hartsprings.org/what-to-donate-3/ for a list of acceptable items to donate.
Volunteers are encouraged to complete the registration form and volunteer waiver that can be found at www.cityofwestfield.org/earthday. Participants under the age of 18 will require a parent or guardian signature in order to volunteer. Walk-ins the day of are welcomed, though pre-registering allows the Commission to prepare supplies for all volunteers.

Ride of Silence
The Ride of Silence will traverse and unite the globe as nothing before it. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn't aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.
The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road and remain silent during the ride. The ride, which is held during Bike Month, aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police, and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. The ride is also a chance to show respect for and honor the lives of those who have been killed or injured.
The ride will begin at the Westfield Middle School and travel on West Silver St and Western Ave, turning around near Westfield State University.
In case of inclement weather, the ride will be held on Saturday, May 24th at 10am.
